The Hourglass of Friendship

An hour glass stood on the rack.
it was positioned at eye-level, aside with a clutter of objects.
it was within sight, but not attention grabbing.

a person walked into the store,
picks up the hourglass,
tilts it over, and placed it back on the rack.
Letting the sand grains sip through time.

the hour glass stood as it is,
abiding its duty,
as it slips off with time...

the hourglass measured 2 years with the last grain that flowed down to the bottom of the glass.
And along with the last grain,
came the emptiness of the glass.

Much as it wishes to fulfil its duty,
it would not be capable to...

the clocks adjacent with the hour glass,
ticked past with time and emptiness.
One tick...2 ticks...3 ticks.. until the counts were lost.
and the hourglass stood with despair.

the door swung open,
it was the exact person that entered the store 2 years ago.

the person glanced around at the shop,
and was reminded of the hourglass.
She walked towards it..
but gave a heavy sigh,
dissapointed that the beautiful scene of the sand grains sipping through
was no longer present.

Unaware that,
she has to continue to tilt the hourglass over,
to view of the beautiful scene she hopes for,
as the hourglass cannot do this by itself....
